COMPETENCE CENTER
HUN-REN Centre for Energy Research plays a leading role in Hungary in the fields of energy research, nuclear technology and environmental science, with the aim of supporting sustainable, safe and innovative energy solutions. It carries out internationally recognised research and development activities in the fields of nuclear safety, radiation protection, radioanalytics and emergency preparedness and response, and one of its key tasks is the operation and scientific utilisation of the Budapest Research Reactor within the framework of domestic and international cooperation.
HUN-REN EK has successfully participated in and led numerous national and international R&D&I projects.
HUN-REN EK is the Technical Support Organization (TSO) of the HAEA and also a member of the European Technical Safety Organisations Network (ETSON).
HUN-REN EK was designated as the first Collaborating Centre for nuclear security and nuclear forensics of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 2016.
HUN-REN EK has several years of experience in training professionals.
HUN-REN EK has extensive links with universities, experts from the Research Centre contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education and participate in training activities initiated by the IAEA and the EU.
The experts of HUN-REN EK have been actively involved in the work of the IAEA for decades, not only in drafting documents, but also in preparing training materials and delivering training courses, exercises and workshops.
Education and training are core competences of the institute and have become an increasingly important part of its activities in recent years.
